Rumble Round
Players start with a random draw. Points increase and decrease with each game you play. Players gain and lose points based on the following results.
If you lose your game by more than your current points, then you are eliminated!
If you lose by less than your total points, you stay alive, but your points are decreased by 3.
For a tie, both players’ point total decreases by 2.
If you win, but do not eliminate your opponent, your point total decreases by 1.
If you win and eliminate your opponent and your point total is 3 or greater: Your point total remains the same.
If you win and your point total is lower than 3, then your point total will increase to 3.
If you are still alive and there is no one else left to eliminate, you are champion of the Rumble!
Team Selection for Each Matchup: A coin will be flipped before each game. The coin-flip winner will choose the matchup (i.e. the two teams). The coin-flip loser then selects either (a) one of the two teams or (b) his preferred controller. If the coin-flip loser selects his preferred controller, the coin-flip winner selects a team first.
Note about Matchups: The coin-flip winner can only select a particular matchup once throughout each stage of the tournament. For instance, if Player A wins the toss and selects Rams-Broncos, Player A cannot call that exact matchup for the rest of that stage (group play or elimination bracket). Player B, however, is free to select that matchup later in the tournament. All matchup selections reset once play moves from group play to the Rumble (this is affectionately known as the “Teta Rule”).
Pace of play: All games for each round start at the same time. All games must be started within 5 minutes of when the matchups are drawn.
